Bay Reach Sailing School is our test school in Annapolis, Maryland: ASA weekends on three J/22 keelboats, Discover Sailing on Saturday afternoons, three instructors. Every screen below comes from it, in October.

ASA 101 in one weekend booking, eight students, two boats.

The course is Saturday and Sunday, and students book Saturday and forget Sunday’s exam.

Each weekend is one session from Saturday 9 am to Sunday 5 pm, eight places (four to a boat), $495, with the places left on every weekend. October 17 is full, October 24 has three places, and the booking for the 24th runs to Sunday at 5.

The next course asks for the last one. The sailor’s record.*

A student books the coastal cruising weekend without ever having sailed a keelboat.

ASA 103 asks the booking to confirm ASA 101 or an equivalent; without the tick, Reserve is refused.

A gale on Saturday: the session moves with its students, its boat and its instructor.

A gale warning on Friday night, and every student, boat and instructor rearranged by phone.

The Trainer week shows every session with its instructors and its boat: ASA 101 on Saturday with Tom and Nadia on Osprey and Tern, Discover Sailing at 1 pm with Ben on Heron. The gale moves Discover Sailing to Sunday at 1 pm in one move: its students, Ben and Heron go with it, and each student gets an e-mail with the new date.

A member books Osprey for Saturday morning, and the instructor finds out on the dock that it was the ASA 101 boat.

The Booking Schedule’s timeline, October 15 to November 1, a row per keelboat: each course holds its boats as a bar of its own, Osprey and Tern on the ASA 101 Saturdays, Heron on Discover Sailing, and the bookings on the course rows below. Heron’s hold went to Sunday the 25th with the session the gale moved (row 03). The weekdays stay open for club rentals. Since this pass a class’s hold on a boat draws as a bar; before, it only lowered the count.

Can I manage multi-day certification courses?
Yes. A weekend course is one session the student books once, with the places left on every weekend.
How do I assign boats to courses?
Each session holds its boats and its instructors; the Trainer week shows them, and a boat on a course can’t be rented at the same time.
Can I track student certifications?
The next course asks for the last one on the booking; a sailor’s record with the certifications and the hours is in beta testing (row 02*).
What if a course gets cancelled due to weather?
Move the session to another day: its students, boats and instructors go with it, and every student gets an e-mail with the new date.
Can I offer gift certificates for sailing lessons?
Yes. Gift cards for any amount, used at checkout on any course.
Can students sign the waiver and a swim test before the dock?
Yes: the release goes with the booking, with your questions (can you swim 50 yards? any medical condition?), and each student signs on their own phone; the booking shows who has.
Can parents register kids for a summer camp week?
Yes: the camp is a week with its places, the booking asks each child’s age and the names allowed to pick them up, and a parent signs for each child.
Do I need to be tech-savvy to use this?
