Little Voyagers Baby Gear Rental is our test business in Kissimmee, Florida: eight travel cribs, six double strollers, twelve car seats and six high chairs, delivered to the hotels and vacation homes around the parks and to Orlando’s airport. Every screen below comes from it, in October.

“Which name is the room under?” We call the family from the hotel lobby while they’re still in the air.
The checkout asks what the front desk needs: the first and last name on the hotel booking, the hotel (or “Vacation home”), the room or the door code if they know it, and the window: daytime by 3 pm free, evening 5 to 9 $15, or the airport. A crib and a high chair for October 16 to 23 at Sunbridge Resort: $122.48 with Orange County’s tax.

Families land at MCO with no car seat, and the rental car can’t leave the lot without one.
Pick the airport and a field for the flight opens: B6 1123, lands 2:40 pm. Untick “We collect it from the same place” and the pickup gets its own address and its own window: the seat and the stroller handed over at baggage claim for $25, collected from the house in Davenport on the last day, free in the daytime.

At 9 on Friday night someone books a crib for Sunday morning, and the weekend’s daytime runs are already loaded.
A booking that starts less than two days away doesn’t get the free daytime run: the checkout offers the evening window and the airport, nothing else. A crib from Sunday the 11th, booked on Friday night, for three days: $45, the evening run $15, $62.93 with the tax.

A two-night stay is the same two drives as a two-week stay.
A stay of one or two days adds a $10 short-stay fee on its own line, before the tax. A crib and a double stroller for October 20 to 22: $58, the fee $10, the tax $4.42, $72.42.

The vacation homes are in Osceola County at 7.5%, the big resorts in Orange County at 6.5%, and the tax was worked out by hand.
The tax follows the address the gear goes to. The same crib and convertible seat for the same week: $10.13 to a house in Kissimmee (Osceola, 7.5%), $8.78 to a resort on Vineland Avenue (Orange, 6.5%).

A family in a vacation home out in Clermont asks what delivery costs, and someone measures it on a map.
The parks area keeps its three windows. Further out, anywhere else in Florida, the daytime run is priced from the road miles between the warehouse and the address: $1.25 a mile, $25 at least, up to 60 miles, the drop-off and the pickup from the same house in one price; a pickup from somewhere else is priced as its own trip. A vacation home in Clermont is 25 miles: $31.25, and the tax is Lake County’s 7%.

The driver gets a list of street addresses; the hotel, the room and the time are in six different orders.
The day’s deliveries and pickups in one list, each with what the driver asks for at the door: Palm Harbor Suites, room 318, daytime; the airport, baggage claim B; the house on Windsor Palms Way, lockbox 2290, evening; Sunbridge Resort, no room yet. Saturday is three hotel drops, a vacation-home pickup and an airport hand-off at 2:40, and nobody sees it coming until Friday night.
Saturday the 10th to Saturday the 17th against the three windows the families book (daytime by 3 pm, the evening, the airport at baggage claim), every delivery in its window with the hotel, the room or the flight, every pickup. Saturday is the heavy day: six stops. The platform has the day’s run (row 08).

“Was this crib cleaned since the last family?” And the car seat’s expiry date is on a sticker under the seat.
Every unit counts its rentals, and each return puts it on the list until someone marks it cleaned: stroller DS-05, infant seat IS-04, high chair HC-03 and crib CR-06 came back this week. Car seats retire six years (infant) or ten years (convertible) after the day they were made: IS-06 is past its date, IS-04 and CS-03 come up in November.
