How It Works

📏

Enter Unit Dimensions

Input the length, width, and height of your inflatable. Taller units catch more wind and need more anchoring force.

💨

Set Wind Conditions

Select the expected maximum wind speed. The calculator uses wind pressure formulas to determine the force acting on your inflatable.

Get Anchor Requirements

See how many stakes or sandbags you need, plus recommendations for anchor type based on wind conditions and ground surface.

Frequently Asked Questions

At what wind speed should I take down a bounce house?
The industry standard maximum is 25 mph sustained winds. However, many safety-conscious operators start deflating at 20 mph. Wind gusts are more dangerous than sustained wind because they create sudden lift forces. If gusts are unpredictable, err on the side of caution and deflate the unit.
How deep should bounce house stakes be?
Stakes should be driven at least 18-24 inches into the ground at a 45-degree angle, leaning away from the inflatable. In soft or sandy soil, use longer stakes (30-36 inches). Each tie-down point needs its own stake. Never rely on just 4 corner stakes for large units; stake every 6 feet around the perimeter.
Can I use sandbags instead of stakes?
Yes, sandbags are required on hard surfaces (concrete, asphalt, pavers) where you cannot drive stakes. Each anchor point needs 40-60 lbs of sandbag weight depending on wind conditions. Water barrels also work. The key is having enough weight to resist the wind's lifting force at every tie-down point.
